You would have encountered at least one of these drivers on a tripOne of the greatest things that hit us as Ghanaian youth is Uber.We got all excited about the app and then we found out that not only could we get a cozy, comfortable ride at a relatively cheaper price, but we get to rate the drive and the driver. Now if that's not taking charge then we don't know what is.

Now we all must have encountered a couple of, well, strange Uber drivers and some were just not understandable.

The Mute Driver

As if getting into a stranger's car is not awkward enough, this Uber driver makes it a gracious point for you to literally hear yourself breathe. He laughs and speaks of nothing. Not even your destination. No emotions whatsoever.

The Driver Who Pretends To Care, Just For The Ratings

This man will ask you if the temperature is wonderful, if you had a nice day and will even go to the extent of asking if you want gum. You can just tell that he does it for the ratings.

The Ones Who Hit On You

These drivers are unbelievable. They suddenly become the leading role in a cliché romantic movie.

The Ones Who Spoil Your Entire Day

With these drivers, you just can't understand if it's the map they don't understand, the road they can't see or they just find pleasure in getting you lost or wasting your time. It's just incomprehensible.

The Fine Ones

The ever charming one that you are low key walking down the aisle with in your fantasy, but then you know it's a sit and bye bye ting innit.

The Very Talkative Ones

You know these ones are talkative when you immediately sit in the car and they start to talk about everything, and we mean every little thing.

Now you don’t really have to listen to any of it until you hear the key words Old Mutual Life Assurance. In summary it’s a really dope partnership between Uber and Old Mutual Life where both driver and passenger enjoy from an insurance policy in case the unexpected happens.

Let’s give you the 411 just in case they don’t give you the full and accurate details. You don’t have to call them out when you realise they are misleading you just correct them lol.

There is the Medical Cover. This cover reimburses both the driver and the rider for their necessary medical expenses to the tune of GHs12, 500. In addition ambulance service will be reimbursed.

In the unfortunate event where a driver or a rider dies as a result of an accident during a trip, their dependents/family will benefit from the Death and Funeral Payments which is a lump sum of GHs50,000 and they will also get an amount of GHs5,000 for funeral expenses.

The Permanent Disability Payments are paid out in the unfortunate event when a rider suffers a permanent disability as a result of an accident during a trip. The rider will benefit from a lump sum payment of up to GHs50,000. The amount depends on the severity of the disability.

Lastly if a driver is hospitalized for more than 48 hours as a result of an accident that happened during a trip and are unable to work because of the injuries, they will receive a daily payment of GHs50 for up to 30 days whilst they are medically certified by a doctor as unfit to work.
